Green campaigners lobby Europe to dilute flagship energy efficiency law
The UK’s green campaigners are lobbying to dilute its flagship energy efficiency law after concerns were raised that it could ‘crash’ the EU energy efficiency industry and lead to weaker policies post Brexit.
Government officials asked the European commission to drop elements of the law after Theresa May triggered article 50.
The UK has previously welcomed the energy efficiency directive and energy reduction targets due to end by 2020, as an essential mechanism to reduce consumer bills and reduce the country’s dependence upon energy imports.Continue reading
